Beavers Nights Away

14 Corsham Beaver Scouts attended their Nights Away at Wiltshire County Scout Centre, 12th-13th November 2011. The Beavers enjoyed a variety of activities and crafts, including archery, cake making and nature walks. On Sunday 13th they made poppies and then we all gathered in the Centre’s outdoor Chapel area and listened to some of the Rememberance service on Radio 4, including the striking of Big Ben and the 2 minutes silence.

Cubs Summer Camp

29th June – 1st July.

We will camping at Tedbury Scout Campsite, near Frome

Cubs Christmas Party

Christmas Party

Thank you to all the Mums and perhaps some Dads who made the food for the Cubs Christmas Party, most of the food was eaten by the Cubs after being tested by the kitchen staff (i.e. The Young Leaders)
All the leaders from 1st Corsham Cub Scouts would like to wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and all the best for 2012. Look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

District Scrapheap Challenge

Date: Saturday 28 January
Time: 10.00 am – 12.30 pm
Venue: 10th Chippenham’s HQ [situated down Westmead Lane, just through the Old Hygrade Factory].

Teams will consist of 6 cubs (in uniform).

Please ask your Cubs to save and bring along any small boxes although some bags of scrap will be provided, we will provide all the glue, pens, paint etc etc.
It is advisable for Cubs to bring along an old shirt or overalls to wear to protect their uniforms.

Tea / Coffee & Squash will be available

The theme for the Competition will be announced on the day.

The Cubs will be told a story and then will have a certain time to design and build their model based on the theme or story.

The winner of the competition will be announced by e-mail on the Sunday after the event, winners will go through to the County ScrapHeap Challenge which is being held on Saturday 25th February 2012.

District Night Hike

A huge congratulations to the 12 Cubs who took part in the District Night Hike.

When places were tied then the fastest time was taken into account.

Both of our teams did well on the First Aid and Stretcher Building activities, but Team A walked faster perhaps it was Akela’s pace! Anyway the in house bet was won by the RAF.

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and plenty of hot dogs, cake and hot chocolate were consumed by all.

A huge thank you to Grant and Scott for helping me in this event, and welcome Scott to our leader team after you’ve decided to go for your leader warrant.

We will now have to sit down and work out the course and base activities for next years Night Hike as the winners have to organise the following years event.

Bag Packing at Sainsburys

Bag Packing at Sainsburys

Thank you all the Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Leaders who turned up today for the Bag Packing. Most of the tills were manned by 2 or 3 Scouts all day between 10am to 4pm.

The total raised at the Bag Packing was £958.20.

Diamond Jubilee Badge

You can wear your Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Badge from today.

Members had been informed the badge should not be worn until January 2012, but due to popular demand the date has been brought forward.

The badge can be worn from September 2011 to December 2012.

This is called an occasional badge and may be worn on the uniform for the above time stated, please can it be sewn onto the front of their uniform just under the Membership Badge (Round Purple one).

1st Corsham Cubs have been issued with this badge, if your Son has not then please see Akela.
